Introduction to First Grade

Dear Parents,
Welcome to our web site!
I am so glad to welcome your child to first grade. We are lucky to
have Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Kincanon to assist each child. I am
excited to have this opportunity to teach your child. My goal for
this year is to help each student feel successful. We must work
together to help your child achieve his/her greatest growth and
learning in reading, writing and math. I want to encourage all
parents to take part in your child's education. If you would like
to volunteer and listen to children read, please contact me. We
would be thrilled to have your help! If you have questions or
concerns, please contact me during my conference time (8:50-9:35)
or after school.
An important part of my classroom will include homework. Your child
will bring home reading homework four nights a week. Reading is a
major emphasis in first grade. Your child will also have library
books. Please read to your child and listen to your child read to
you, this can be a very special time. Check over his/her homework
and help when necessary. We will test math skills, phonograms, and
spelling words on Fridays.
