Dear Friends,
Thank you for clicking on our web site. I hope this will be helpful to you as a parent. I am looking forward to our school year. One of my main goals is to prepare your child for success in their future education. I want each student to feel special about themselves and develop a love of learning. I always have high expectations of my students. I believe children will only reach their highest potential when being challenged while being supported at school and at home.
One special love of mine is teaching reading and writing. I have a reading specialization and have been privileged to teach reading and writing techniques to first grade teachers all over the Texas Panhandle. Because of my interest, I am lucky to be team teaching again this year with Allison Taylor. Her room joins ours. Mrs. Taylor is teaching math to my students and I am teaching writing to her students. We have used this format for several years and we feel it is very successful. Mrs. Taylor is a super math teacher who makes mathematical concepts meaningful and fun for students.
First grade is lucky to have Mrs.Cindy Jones and Mrs.Norma Kincanon for a portion of the day to assist during our reading time. Their expertise in our classroom is invaluable. In the past, we have been fortunate to have volunteers in our room to listen to students read. If you are interested in volunteering in our classroom, please contact me at school.
I strive to have a close relationship with the families of my students. Only by working together can we assure that our children will be all they can be. Please feel free to visit our room anytime. Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you might have.
Sincerely,
Suzanne Atchley
