Mrs. Gaylor working hard.

Mrs. Gaylor's Second Grade

by Wendy Gaylor

August 25, 2007

Dear Parents,

Welcome to second grade.  I'm looking forward to working with your child.

This will be my 2nd year to teach second grade at Childress Elementary.  This will be my 5th year to teach overall.  I graduated from Sam Houston University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Early Childhood.  I am married to Brent Gaylor who is the Varsity Boys Basketball coach.  We have one daughter, Hanna, who is 11 months old.

In second grade we will be working on skills that they learned in first grade. However, your child will learn some higher level skills that will improve his or her learning experience.

I expect my students to work hard and learn everything they can, so they will be successful in life and be self-sufficient adults.

Homework is very important, so they can practice what they learned in class that day.  Our homework consists of reading, math, and spelling.  Our math homework will need to be returned the following day for a homework grade.  Our spelling homework is due at the end of each week. I will have an outline of our homework each week for my students and their parents to follow and know what to do.  A homework grade will be taken at the end of the six weeks.  They need to read at least twenty minutes every night and be ready to take an AR test the next morning. Completing assignments and turning them in on time will make a big difference in your child's grade.  Please continue to encourage your child to keep up the good work

I want to thank you for allowing me to teach your child.  I will strive to provide quality instruction and unlimited learning opportunities for all my students in a positive caring manner.

Together we can promote a positive love of learning that will last a lifetime.  Your help and support is appreciated.

        Thank you,

Mrs. Wendy Gaylor
