Welcome Back to School!

by Melissa Jones

August 21, 2007

Dear Parents,

I will be your child's special education teacher this year.  I am very excited about this year and the changes that we are all adjusting too. For the time your child is in my room, I have set the expectations for them to follow.

Listen carefully.

Follow Directions.

Work quietly. Do not disturb others who are working.

Respect others. Be kind with your words and actions.

Respect school and personal property.

Work and play safely.

If a student breaks a rule, the following consequences will occur:

First time student breaks rule: Verbal warning to student

Second time student breaks rule: Name on board

Third time student breaks rule: One checkmark, call parents

Fourth time student breaks rule: Two checkmarks, send to principal.

***If student is severally disruptive, hoe or she will be sent immediately to the principal.

Included are also ways to positively reinforce students who behave appropriately. In addition to frequent praise, I will reward students with free time and tickets to be cashed in.

In order for this plan to have its greatest effect, I need your support. Please discuss this letter with your child.  If you have any questions please feel free to call me at 937-6313.

Sincerely,

Melissa Jones
