Principal's Words

Words From Word

August 25, 2007

Dear Parents,

I am so excited that school is back in session.  We have great news.  August 1st TEA announced that Childress Elementary was awarded a "Recognized" rating. Congratulations to the students, staff and parents for this accomplishment.  Everyone worked very hard all year to achieve this goal.

THINGS THAT ARE NEW

  • Attendance Program

CES will implement the Students High Attendance Reward Program.

Each week students who have perfect attendance will receive a Wild Reward Animal Card.  Nine cards will be given out each quarter.  One hidden reward card will be placed among the cards given out.  The child receiving this card will win a plush animal.  A hidden message in the puzzle indicates what makes the hidden reward different.  Each quarter students with perfect attendance for the quarter will be entered in a drawing for a plush animal.

Each 9 weeks students with perfect attendance will have their name in a drawing to win a plush stuffed animal. There will be one animal per grade level.

  • New Staff

We are delighted to have our new staff members.  Please help us make them feel welcome.

They are: Steve Craig, Jeanie Greggory  Sherri Hamlin, Francis Juarez, Norma Kincannon,  Patti Sandlin, Katrina Stewart and Janice Thomas.

  • Tardies
      • Students will need to report to the office and get a TARDY slip if they arrive after the moment of silence on PAWZ TV. From the 4th tardy through the 9th tardy, students will miss noon recess.  On the 10th tardy until the end of the semester, students will attend detention from 3:00 - 3:40 each time they are tardy.
  • Technology
      • One of our goals is the use of technology.  All teachers received laptops, Elmo's and LCD projectors this summer.  These will be used to enhance classroom instruction.
