CES Students Voting

Final Results for Texas and the nation were in favor of Obama.
All day Monday, November 3rd, Childress Elementary School students voted for the President of the United States. Studies Weekly offered a nationwide online voting program for students in elementary school to participate in the electoral process. Teachers have used this opportunity to discuss voting and elections in the classroom. Homeroom teachers signed up for 15-minute time slots. Several 5th Grade students posed as election workers, and stamped students present to vote on a registration sheet.
Then the students entered the Computer Lab, where the computers had been separated with cardboard “Voting Booth” dividers to make the process more authentic. The program showed photos of the candidates and their Vice-Presidential nominees. Students then clicked on their choice, and after a countdown (to prevent multiple votes) were shown a map of the US with results to that point. The nationwide polls closed at 3:30pm, so the results will be posted on PAWZ-TV on Tuesday morning. It will be interesting to see if the student votes mirror the adult votes Tuesday evening!
