Melody Wadley

August 22, 2007

Hello, my name is Melody Wadley.  I am a 1980 graduate of Altus High School.  In 1984, I graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree.  I started teaching in August 1984, in Estelline, TX.  I taught second and third grade in one classroom.  In 1985, I started teaching second grade at Childress Elementary.  I continued with second grade until 1989.  At this time, I moved to Childress Junior High.  My sixth grade teacher, Jimmy Holmes, encouraged me to become a reading teacher.  I currently teach eighth grade reading and one class of seventh grade reading.  This is my twenty-fourth year to teach.  Twenty-three of the twenty-four years has been with Childress Independent School District.

I believe it is very important for everyone to learn to read.  I think the more you read, the smarter you become!  My class is very hard to fail, but not a cinch to pass either.  I have set high expectations for all my students.  You must try to help yourself first, then, if you need help, I am here!  My classroom atmosphere is pretty laid back because I want the students to feel comfortable in my class.  I enjoy all my students and feel like they enjoy being in my class!

I married Randy Wadley in 1985.  We have been happily married for 21 years.  We have two wonderful children.  Ryanis 16 years old and is in 11th grade.  MacKenzie is 12 years old and is in 7th grade.  We have two dogs, Tex and Dexter.

My conference time is 1:50-2:40.  If you have any questions feel free to call the school at 940-937-3641 or email mwadley@childressisd.net anytime.
