Darlene Galligan

7th Language Arts and 7th Reading

Hello!  My name is Darlene Galligan and I teach Language Arts and Reading (Grade 7) at Childress Junior High School.  My conference period is from 9:30 a.m. to 10:20 a.m.  The phone number is 937-3641.

I attended South Plains College and West Texas State University; I graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism/English.

This year marks my 22nd year of teaching (18 years at CJHS, two years each at Caprock High School and Hale Center High School).

I have been married for 36 years to David Galligan.  He serves as the monitor at the Weight Room for Childress schools.  David earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology/Sociology in 1970 from West Texas State University.  He is retired (disabled) from the City of Childress, where he served as City Manager for 20 years.

Our children are Amanda Kirkpatrick and husband, Erik; she is a teacher/coach at Childress High School and Erik is an assistant principal at CHS;  John Galligan and wife, Kammie; he is a teacher/coach at CHS and she is attending Clarendon College and working at Blackburn's and Childress Index; Sarah Galligan is a teacher/coach at Bowie Middle School in Amarillo, and Emily Galligan is an assistant account executive at McCormick Company in Amarillo. 

Grandchildren are Kristen Kirkpatrick, age 8, third grade, Childress Elementary School; Katy Kirkpatrick, age 7, second grade at CES, and David Kirkpatrick, age 5, Kids' Korner Learning Center, Childress.
