8th grade Language Arts and 7th grade Reading
January 22, 2007
Hello! Thank you for visiting my web page. My current teaching assignments are 8th grade Language Arts and 7th grade Reading. I am also the cheerleading sponsor this year. My conference time is from 2:40 to 3:35.
I grew up in a small community, Northfield, located about 30 miles from town. I attended school at Matador until my freshman year of high school; then transferred to Childress, where my mother taught, and still teaches. I attended college at West Texas A&M University, in Canyon, where I received my Bachelors of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. My certification areas are English as a Second Language, Early Childhood through Fourth grade, and Language Arts and Reading 4-8. My husband, Will, and I live on my parents ranch in Northfield; and I have a son, Kyler, who is 6.
My goal is to prepare my students for the life that they are about to experience at high school and beyond. I try to incorporate an even mix of literature, grammar, and writing so that they will be well rounded individuals; ready to tackle the "learning" obstacles that may lie in their futures. I believe that all children have intrinsic curiosity and the capacity to learn; a cooperative effort from school, family, and community, together, can help students reach their unique potential as life-long learners.
