Sharece Prince

6th, 7th, 8th Content Mastery

February 04, 2007

PERSONAL

My name is Sharece Prince and I am the Content Mastery teacher for 6th, 7th & 8th grade. I am a 1982 graduate of CHS. I was a member of National Honor Society, a Bobcat, a cheerleader, and member of the Big Blue Band. My experiences in the Childress schools helped inspire me to become a teacher.

My husband, Michael Prince, is a 1980 CHS graduate and we have three children. Mike works for WTU AEP. Falon (22) is married to Matt Stone. They both attend West Texas A&M University in Canyon. Faran (19) attends the Art Institute of Dallas. Faith (14) is a freshman at CHS.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

I received a teaching degree from Midwestern State University. My certifications are Early Childhood, all level Special Education, and Secondary Math. This is my 16th year as a teacher in the Childress Independent School District. I have taught at all levels including: Early Childhood, 1st and 2nd Resource, 4th Grade, 6th Math, High School Algebra and currently 6th, 7 th, & 8th Content Mastery.

OUR CLASSROOM

The CM room serves many different types of students: special ed. students that are in regular ed. classrooms, 504 students, and any student that is struggling with a particular concept. Students come to CM to receive modifications that can not be carried out in the regular classroom. Tests might be read aloud, difficult concepts retaught, assistance given studying for a test, or just a quiet place provided to help a student stay on task. Students are taught to understand their weaknesses and given techniques they can use to overcome them. Lisa Campbell and Kara Bachausen also work in the CM room. They do an excellent job and are very dedicated to our students.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

'It must be remembered that the purpose of education is not to fill the minds of students with facts... it is to teach them to think, if that is possible, and always to think for themselves.' --- Robert Hutchins
