January 20, 2008

With the start of the new year, we will focus on preparing flash cards to help memorize the states according to their shape.  Students will be given four quizzes over these states.   The quiz schedule is as follows:

                Friday, January18- Alabama- Illinois (13)

Friday, January 25- Indiana- Missouri (12)

                Friday, February 1 - Montana- Pennsylvania (13)

Friday, February 8- Rhode Island- Wyoming (12)

We will also begin our discussion of the American Revolution.  We will begin with the passage of the sugar and stamp acts and how these two events, along with other unfair taxation, set the stage for the Revolution.  We will also take a look and Longfellow's poem entitled Paul Revere's Ride and discuss its importance in literature and it's historical inaccuracies.
