Bobcat Blue Behavior Stick

October 15, 2007

Our yardstick has seven colors and a name clothespin for each student. White is in the middle with green then blue above. Beneath white is yellow, pink, red and black. All students begin the day on white. Great behavior raises them to green then blue. If an infraction occurs, the clothespin moves down to yellow - a reminder to monitor their behavior. Continued misbehavior results in moving down the stick to pink (missing half of recess), red (missing all of recess), black (a visit to the office). I like this format because students have the opportunity to move up not just down. At the end of the day, I record the position. If the color is pink or below, I will write in the student's folder addressing the problem. If not, they will receive a stamp. If a student has seven, eight or nine missed stamps in a six week period, they will have and N for behavior on their report card. Ten or more result in a U.  Missed homework also constitutes a missed stamp. Students having Bobcat Blue behavior for seven days in a six week period will visit the office for a treat. If you have a concern or a comment, please contact me at school. Thank you for your support.
