How Many Skittles?
October 14, 2007
Students had a great time practicing their graphing skills by using a snack bag of Skittles. We discussed how many Skittles of each color were in a bag and what colors were actually in a bag of Skittles. The students opened their bags gleefully and found out that not all contents were the same. Most students found their Skittles to be of 4 different colors with a total of 20 to 22 skittles. One student only had 12 Skittles- he was not thrilled! We felt sorry for him and gave him another bag! The students counted each color and then graphed their results in a bar graph. They were given permission to eat their skittles as they finished their graphs. The students then asked me if we could do a "M&M Lab"- I told them they would have to wait awhile!
