Dear Parents,
We are glad to have the first TAKS reading test behind us. Students worked diligently on the test and gave their best effort. We will receive the test scores later this month. Parents will be notified as soon as they are in. Our focus now is to continue to prepare students for the math and science tests in April.
At the end of the 5th six weeks, we will have report card conferences. These are scheduled for April 17. I look forward to discussing the progress your child has made this year. We will send home a letter asking for a convenient time to schedule your appointment.
If you have questions or concerns, my conference time is 11:20 - 12:00 and 3:00 - 3:40, phone 937-6313.
Overview
Fifth Six Weeks
Writing - Our focus will be "word choice" this six weeks. Students will learn how to choose words that will energize their writing and create vivid pictures and impressions for their reader.
English - Students will complete the unit on adjectives. Learning to use strong, precise adjectives will enhance their writing.
Spelling - Students will learn the spelling and meaning of vocabulary words used in math, science, social studies, and reading classes.
Handwriting - Students will continue to practice upper case cursive letters.
