The Childress Independent School District Board of Education met in a special session Tuesday at noon to discuss the principal position at Childress High School.
During the meeting, the board unanimously approved the hiring of Erik Kirkpatrick as the principal at CHS.

He has been the assistant principal for six years and was a coach from 2001 to 2005. He has a knowledge of the students and the school at CHS.
"I'm looking forward to being the principal at Childress High School," Kirkpatrick said. "I will continue the positive things taking place at the school with the technology and progressive attitude that makes Childress High School one of the best in the nation. It is an honor to be the principal at a campus with such great faculty and outstanding students."
