Childress ISD Voters Approve All Four Propositions
Childress, Texas — November 4, 2026
Childress ISD voters passed Propositions A through D on November 3, 2026, approving Prop A by 73%, Prop B by 68%, Prop C by 62%, and Prop D by 74%. The results underscore the community’s commitment to the district’s students and staff.
“This is a great day for Childress ISD,” Superintendent Mark Dykes said. “We are so thankful for our community’s support. This bond will allow us to invest in our facilities and create safe, modern learning environments where our students and staff can thrive.”
The state of Texas doesn’t provide funding for facilities. By law, bond funds may not be used to fund daily operating expenses or salaries. Bond funds may only be used for projects approved by district voters.
Prop A provides $88.5 million for renovations and new construction to the existing Childress High School to create a combined secondary campus for junior high and high school students.
Prop B authorizes the board to sell bonds in the future to fund projects when property tax growth increases. Prop B provides $36.3 million for a New Childress Elementary School.
Prop C authorizes the board to sell bonds in the future to fund projects when property tax growth increases. Prop C provides $9.1 million for a New Athletics Field House.
In addition to the 2026 Bond Package, Childress ISD voters approved the Attendance Credit Election, or Proposition D on the November ballot. The district can now pay recapture by purchasing attendance credit from the State with local tax revenue.
“The support for this bond means so much to our schools, students, and staff,” Dykes said. “Our community has shown it values safe, modern facilities for our children, and I’m honored to serve here.”
